Behind the Lens: A 3-Day Corporate Event
for Bank of America in Charlotte, NC
When Bank of America brings together its top leaders for a multi-day conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, you know the production value, energy, and guest list will be nothing short of incredible. As a Charlotte corporate photographer, my job during a multi-day summit goes far beyond taking crisp photos. It’s about documenting momentum, capturing high-stakes executive keynotes, candid networking moments, and once-in-a-lifetime evening experiences that leave a lasting impression on attendees.
The event brought together top executives, employees, and guests for a combination of keynote sessions, immersive experiences, and networking opportunities across some of Charlotte’s most recognizable locations.
Day 1: Keynotes at The Revelry North End & An Evening with Aviation History
We kicked off Day 1 at The Revelry North End, one of Charlotte’s premier modern industrial event venues located in the historic Camp North End district. With its soaring brick arches, steel beams, and expansive open-concept layout, The Revelry provided an incredible visual backdrop for registration and opening keynotes. From executives arriving and connecting with colleagues to speakers taking the stage and audiences engaging with presentations, the photography focused on storytelling, creating a visual narrative of leadership, collaboration, and company culture.
The highlight of the daytime session was an inspiring keynote address from Bank of America’s CEO. Capturing high-profile executive speeches requires a balance of telephoto stage shots to capture expression and wide-angle environmental photos to show the scale and audience engagement in the room.
Evening: Miracle on the Hudson at Sullenberger Aviation Museum
For the evening reception, attendees were treated to an unforgettable experience at the Sullenberger Aviation Museum, located near Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The museum’s centerpiece is the actual Airbus A320 from US Airways Flight 1549, the aircraft famously piloted by Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger during the 2009 “Miracle on the Hudson” emergency water landing on New York’s Hudson River, an event that safely brought all 155 people on board home.
Having the pilot connected to that story present at the reception added a layer of meaning to the evening that’s rare at a corporate event, and it made for genuinely emotional, memorable photographs. Shooting inside a working aviation museum, with a preserved aircraft as the backdrop, is a corporate event photographer’s dream: dramatic scale, unique textures, and a story that guests will be talking about long after the trip home. This is exactly the kind of unexpected venue choice that makes Charlotte such a strong host city for corporate events; it’s not just ballrooms and hotel conference centers.
Day 2: Dynamic Speeches & Soccer evening at Bank of America Stadium
Day 2 brought us back to The Revelry North End for a full slate of presentations and breakout sessions. While stage lighting and speaker framing are crucial, some of the most valuable corporate photography assets come from candid storytelling; the conversations happening in hallways, the laughter during a coffee break, the genuine reactions during breakout sessions.
Posed group shots have their place, but the images that end up in next year’s recruiting deck, internal newsletter, or LinkedIn post are almost always the unscripted ones: a leader listening intently, colleagues comparing notes, someone laughing at a joke off to the side of the stage.
Alongside more speaker sessions, I focused on:
- Wide establishing shots of the general session room
- Tight portraits of speakers and panelists
- Genuine crowd and networking photography between sessions
- Detail shots — branding, signage, swag tables — that give the marketing team flexible assets to use later
Evening 2: Soccer, Jerseys and a 1999 World Cup Legend
If Day 1 was about history, Day 2 was all about pure fun and energy! The evening reception moved to Bank of America Stadium in the Atrium Health area. Guests participated in soccer activities, received custom jerseys, and enjoyed an experience designed around connection and engagement.
The surprise peak of the night was a special appearance by US Women’s Soccer icon Brandi Chastain, who brought along the official 1999 Women’s World Cup Trophy! Capturing guests posing with World Cup royalty and the trophy made for action-packed, vibrant corporate event imagery. Photographing this kind of activation is a mix of event photography and light sports photography, capturing the action of executives and staff practicing drills, freezing the excitement of new jerseys being handed out, and getting that once-in-a-lifetime portrait moment with a World Cup champion. These are the images that make a corporate unforgettable.
Day 3: Closing Executive Keynotes at Bank of America Headquarters
The final day moved to the Bank of America headquarters in Charlotte, where attendees gathered for additional presentations and executive sessions. The environment shifted from celebration back to leadership and strategy, with top executives sharing insights, company updates and future initiatives.
Photographing executive events requires attention to detail, capturing speakers confidently presenting, audience engagement, branded environments, and the overall professionalism of the experience. The final gallery is a complete visual story of the three-day event, showcasing not only the speakers and presentations but also the culture, relationships, and experiences that made the gathering meaningful.
Key Takeaways for Multi-Day Corporate Event Photography
Photographing a multi-day corporate conference across multiple venues demands preparation, adaptability, and high-end gear:
- Venue-Specific Lighting Adaptability: Moving from the modern industrial ambient light of The Revelry to the dramatic museum lighting of Sullenberger, followed by outdoor/indoor stadium lights and indoor auditoriums, requires fast lenses and flash management.
- Storytelling Consistency: Whether photographing a CEO address or guests kicking soccer balls in custom jerseys, every image should feel cohesive in tone, color grading, and quality.
- Fast Turnarounds: Corporate PR and marketing teams often need same-day or next-day image highlights for social media and press releases.
